Mary Sand

Alto flute , degrees from Northwestern University, U. of Illinois Medical School campus, and Southwestern University. She earned a PhD in Medical Microbiology and retired as Associate Medical Director of an Infectious Disease Laboratory (CT). She has published and presented medical papers at 18 National and International medical meetings and was on the Faculty of the University of Wisconsin Medical School. As an alto flutist, she won six national auditions to perform with the National Professional Flute Choir and tours with the International Flute Orchestra, performing in Europe and South America. Mary performs with the Metropolitan Boston Flute Orchestra, Low Flutes Express Ensemble, several flute choirs in Florida, and Charter Oak Flutes. She has commissioned four new works for flute choir and one piece for alto flute and piano. She is also a sports photographer for Brandeis University.

Cheryl Six

Piccolo, C flute is an active performing flutist and instructor, specializing on piccolo. Cheryl served as piccolo player in the US Coast Guard Band from 1977 until her retirement in 2007, and currently performs on piccolo with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, a position she has held for over 35 years. In addition, she is often heard in the flute sections of the Con Brio Choral Society Orchestra and other Connecticut ensembles.

Heather Stegmaier

has performed in ensembles throughout the Northeast US including the Blackledge Flutes, Bach Festival Orchestra , Bethlehem, PA and Sol Solis Consort, Simsbury, CT. She holds a M.Mus. in Flute from the Hartt School and a BM Flute Performance , Moravian College, where her teachers included Greig Shearer and Robin Kani. She has performed in master classes for Gary Schocker, Jeffery Khaner, Trudy Kane, and the late Julius Baker. Heather worked as private flute instructor in the Greater Hartford, CT area from 2002-2011 where, in addition to teaching private lessons, she started flute ensemble programs and taught master classes in schools and music studios. Currently, Heather works in University Relations at Wesleyan University and is a nationally certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, an educational method for the improvement of posture, balance and mobility. Sarah Bouchard Stockton

C flute, Alto flute, Bass flute graduated from the University of Connecticut and The Boston Conservatory with degrees in flute performance and music education. She is owner and repair technician at Boundless Flute, Connecticut's only Straubinger certified and Muramatsu authorized flute repair shop.

Kathie Sumrow

C flute - received her BM New England Conservatory of Music and Master’s degree from Yale University School of Music. She also studied in Europe as a Fulbright Scholar and was a fellowship student at the Cleveland Orchestra’s Blossom Festival. She has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic as well as the New York City Opera and is currently an active freelancer and contracted member of numerous Connecticut and New York orchestras. Winner of the National Flute Association’s new music competition, she premiered new solo compositions at the Flute Conventions in Washington DC and Dallas, Texas. As the former concert master of the International Flute Orchestra, she collaborated each May with flutists in other countries around the world.
